117 Million People Didn’t Vote in the 2016 Presidential Election
To mark the one-year anniversary of the 2016 election, VICE Impact will feature facts that illustrate a broken electoral system in America, and how the nation can do better.
The 2016 Presidential election inspired a lot of passion on both sides of the aisle, but despite how strongly Americans felt about Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump it didn’t make much of a dent in voter turnout.
Approximately 117 million registered voters didn’t vote in last year’s presidential election. Also, CNN confirmed that voter participation dropped to a historic low in the past two decades with only 55 percent of Americans going to the polls.
If you have a strong opinion on how the government should be run, don't just talk about it— take action. Make sure you're registered to vote so that you can have your voice heard.
